Women's Lacrosse Falls to #17 Stevens

Hoboken, NJ The Montclair State University women's lacrosse team fell to #17 Stevens 16-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (1-1) fell behind early, as the Ducks kicked off the contest with two goals in the opening 90 seconds. Stevens continued their offensive surge in the period's early stages, as they doubled the advantage to four by the 8:20 mark. NORAH MONAGHAN saw a shot ring off the post three minutes later, and JOEY GROTKOPF notched a save on the resulting possession. The home side tallied three more goals down the stretch of the frame to take a 7-0 advantage after the opening 15 minutes.
  • Grotkopf came up with a stop in the first minute of the second quarter, but Stevens added three markers over the next five minutes to push the lead to double-digits with 10 to play in the half. After Grotkopf notched another stop, CHELSEA STACK ripped a shot to try and get Montclair on the board at the 7:27 mark. Neither side could find the back of the next until 90 seconds on the clock, as the Ducks struck right before the break.
  • The Ducks added four more goals in the third quarter before Montclair struck at the 10:25 mark of the final stanza, as LEXI ROBINSON found CARA MCCARTNEY after a ground ball pickup from DANIELLE DE JESUS. Stevens added their final marker of the contest three minutes later, but the Red Hawks answered with the final four shots of the game, including three on target.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
