PREVIEW | Women’s Indoor Track & Field @ The AARTFC Championships

Montclair, NJ- The Montclair State University Women's Track & Field team is set for competition at the AARTFC Regional Championships this weekend with their two-day event set to start Saturday.
 
The meet is being hosted by Ithaca College at the Glazer Arena. Live coverage links can be found at montclairathletics.com.
 
The Red Hawks will see compete in four different events on the first day of the championships. The 60-meter dash contestants will consist of MCKAY ALBY, MAILE O'NEILL, MICHELLE ITOUA, and FAITH WILLIAMS. Alby leads the way for the Red Hawks in the event that she placed second in at the NJAC Championships in her first year with a time of 7.77 which also stamped her name on the Montclair record book. O'Neill in her first season falls right behind Alby with a 7.95 she clocked at the NJAC Championships that placed her fourth with Williams falling right behind at fifth with a 7.95. Itoua's best time of the year came at the TCNJ Indoor Opener back in December that clocked in at 7.97. The top ranked time in the region comes from Ramapo's Gbarper Dwah who clocked a 7.67 at the TCNJ Indoor Opener.
 
Julia Acevado will compete in the pentathlon event. She earned a bronze medal and an All-NJAC Honorable Mention at the NJAC Championships for her performance in the event. Her best total of points came at the Susquehanna Early Invite however when she totaled 2,748 points. The top mark in the region comes from Stockton's Elaina Styer, who won the gold medal at the NJAC Championships with a total of 3,606 points.
 
DENISSE AGUILAR puts her name in to the 5000-meter run. The best time that she clocked this season came at the Fastrack Invite on February 7 where she posted a 18:46.77. The top time heading into the event is Tara Smurla from Moravian, who has the region's best mark at 17:39.21.
 
Montclair will also be entering the distance medley relay (DMR) at regionals this year. The team will replicate their quartet from the NJAC Championships with TORI SUTERA, ODALYS GUERRERO-DOMINQUEZ, Lily Synder, and ABIGAIL CHURCHILL teaming up to try and best their DMR time at the conference championship meet of 12:47.83 that placed fifth. The NJAC Champion DMR team from Stockton (Amanda McNally, Emma Conroy, Kayla Kass, and Madelyn Valasek will be the favorites heading into the meet.
 
Day two of the AARTFC Regional Championships will take place the following day on Saturday, March 8. The events Montclair is set to compete in are the weight throw, triple jump, 200-meter dash, 4x200 relay, and potentially the 60-meter final.
