PREVIEW | Women’s Indoor Track & Field @ The AARTFC Championships (Day Two)

Montclair, NJ- The Montclair State University Women's Track & Field team will cap off its two-day event at the AARTFC Championships

Yesterday, the team saw competition in three events . The Red Hawks were led by the Distance Medley Relay team of TORI SUTERAODALYS GUERRERO-DOMINQUEZLILIANA SNYDER, and ABIGAIL CHURCHILL, who recorded a program record time of 12:39.63 to place 10th in the event. That team time broke a 35-year-old program record that was set during the 1990 season MCKAY ALBY (7.78) and MAILE O'NEILL (7.88) notched top ten marks in the 60m trials. Michelle Ituoa (8.09) and FAITH WILLIAMS (8.12) also competed in the event. DENISSE AGUILAR notched a mark of 19:39.44 in the 5000m to close out the first day of competition.

With Alby's time of 7.78, she will compete in the 60-meter finals today. She will be joined by Ithaca's Aynisha McQuillar, Ramapo's Gbarper Dwah, Colby's Simone Waheed, Medgar Ever's Toshel Goffe, Houghton's Victoria Brewster, SUNY Delhi's Shaesha Johnson, and Rowan's Molly Lodge. McQuillar is the favorite heading into today with a preliminary time of 7.62.
 
Alby will also be the lone competitor for the Red Hawks in the 200-meter dash. She came in with her best time at the NJAC Championship, earning third place and All-NJAC Honorable mention with a time of 25.81.Mariam Kota of Widener has the regions best time that she clocked at the MAC Championships of 25.10
 
MAYA YESALONIS will compete today in the weight throw. Her qualifying mark came on January 31 at the Seamus McElligot Invite with a throw of 14.62m (47' 11.75"). The top throw in the region comes from Eastern's Savana Dodd with a mark of 16.30m (53' 5.75") at this year's MAC Championships.
 
JULIA ACEVEDO will compete in the triple jump. Her best mark of the season earned her a bronze medal and All-NJAC Honorable Mention status with a mark of 10.87m (35' 8"). Rainah Dunham from Ursinus posted the best jump this season in the region with a mark of 12.50m (41' 0.25"). She set that back in January at the Widener Winter's Evening Invite.
 
Wrapping up the weekend will be the 4x200 relay mashup of Alby, MAILE O'NEILL, ALEXA ALI, and MICHELLE ITOUA. That quartet enters the day with a team-best time of 1:44.73 that earned them All-NJAC Honorable Mention this season at the conference championship meet.
 
After the dust settles from the AARFTC Regional Championships, Montclair State will see if they have anyone qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship meet. That meet will take place Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 in Nazareth, NY.
