Women’s Swimming & Diving Earns Seven All-NJAC Accolades

Pitman, NJ – The Montclair State University Women's Swimming and Diving team earned six All-NJAC accolades, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Leading the way were ROURKE PERALTA and ABBY BROCK, who both secured First Team honors. Peralta also claimed a Second Team selection, while AUDREY HITCHENS, JULIE TIEDEMANN, MARIANNE TASSINARI, and the 200-yard freestyle relay team—comprising Peralta, SOPHIA SHOPOVICK, SARAH FONDACARO, and Brock—earned Honorable Mention recognition. With her two individual honors and her contribution to the 200 free relay, Peralta increased her career All-NJAC accolades to 14.

Peralta earned First Team honors in the 100-yard freestyle, where she clocked 51.19 seconds to win gold at the NJAC Championship. She also secured a Second Team selection in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing second with a time of 23.18 seconds.

Brock earned First Team honors with her first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NJAC Championships, where she outpaced the competition with a time of 1:04.39 to claim the first gold medal of her career. With her First Team selection and Honorable Mention recognition in the 200 free relay, Brock concluded her career with 14 All-NJAC accolades.

Tiedemann secured her sixth Honorable Mention honor by placing third in the 1650-yard freestyle at the NJAC Championships, finishing with a time of 17:37.36. She wrapped up her career with 13 All-NJAC accolades.

Tassinari earned her second All-NJAC Honorable Mention of the season in the 400-yard individual medley (IM), where she took bronze at the NJAC Championships with a time of 4:31.04. Notably, Montclair swimmers have earned All-NJAC honors in the 400 IM for nine consecutive seasons.

Hitchens collected her Honorable Mention All-NJAC honor in the 1-meter dive. She notched a bronze-medal finish with a score of 267.60. She has now earned her third-straight Honorable Mention selection in the event.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Peralta, Shopovick, Fondacaro, and Brock earned Honorable Mention after finishing third in the event with a time of 1:35.67.

Montclair concluded the season with an impressive 10-2 dual meet record and placed fourth at the NJAC Championships, accumulating 897.5 points.
