Women's Lacrosse Falls to #23 Rowan

Glassboro, NJ The Montclair State University women's lacrosse team fell to #23 Rowan 21-7 on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (8-6, 2-2 NJAC) fell behind early, as the Profs broke the scoring open a minute into the contest. Montclair attempted to counter on the next possession with a shot on goal by KAELEY SEK, but Rowan stood tall defensively. Just under the nine minute mark of the first, the home side doubled their advantage and added a third with 5:11 on the clock. The Red Hawks got on the board with an unassisted marker by LEXI ROBINSON, but Rowan tallied the final four goals of the quarter to open up a six-score lead.
  • CHELSEA STACK scored a free-position goal following a foul by Rowan in the opening minute of the second stanza to cut into the deficit, but the Profs answered with back-to-back goals over the next four minutes. NORAH MONAGHAN ended the run with an unassisted goal with 9:34 on the clock, but Rowan countered with five-straight goals to push their advantage to double-digits. Robinson scored her second of the day with 26 seconds remaining to make the halftime margin 10.
  • Rowan opened the second half with a goal 90 seconds into the third, and Robinson answered shortly after with another unassisted tally two minutes later. The two sides traded goals over the next four minutes, with AMRA LUKOVIC finding the back of the net with 6:50 on the clock to make the margin 10 again. Rowan notched the final goal of the frame with 2:43 remaining to take a 17-6 lead into the final period.
  • Sek scored off a feed from Stack three minutes in to kick off the fourth quarter, but the Profs accumulated the remaining four goals of the evening to seal the home conference victory.

  • Robinson tallied three goals on the day for her fifth hat trick of the campaign.
  • JOEY GROTKOPF tallied eight saves in net for the Red Hawks.
