Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Sees Multiple Top-Five Finishes at Muhlenberg Invite

Allentown, Pa.- The Montclair State University women's outdoor track and field team had a very successful overall day, seeing multiple top-five finishes to cap off its time at the Muhlenberg Invite on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Taniya Giles was the headliner of the group when she placed first in the shot put with a mark of 12.26m (40' 2.75"). She was followed closely by MAYA YESALONIS, who placed third with a mark of 10.87m (35' 8") and CHLOE BRIJBAG, who threw 10.38m (34' 0.75") for sixth place.
In the 100-meter dash, MAILE O'NEILL led the way when she ran a 12.63. MICHELLE ITOUA placed seventh in the same event (13.07) and was followed by AISHA GARCIA (13.17).
KENDALL HALL also earned a second-place finish when she clocked a time of 16.37 in the 100m hurdles.
ABIGAIL CHURCHILL competed in the 5000-meter run, where she placed third with a time of 18:14.84. DENISSE AGUILAR was in the same field and finished seventh with a time of 19:00.33.
TORI SUTERA got herself in the top five in the 800-meter run. She placed fifth and ran a 2:26.33.
JULIA ACEVEDO finished third in the field in the triple jump. She collected a mark of 10.67m (35' 0.25"). She also competed in the long jump, where she finished 12^th with a jump of 4.61m (15' 1.50").
SARAH LUMAS and JESSICA HOLLER both got into the top five of the high jump. They both placed fifth with a mark of 1.37m (4' 6").

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Giles' mark ranks fifth all-time in the MSU record book. Brijbag's shot put mark ranks eighth on the all-time freshman list.
O'Neill ran the ninth-best 100-meter and fifth-best freshman run for the Red Hawks program.
Churchill is on the cusp of the 5000-meter record as her run was the second-best run of all time.
Sutera's run ranked ninth-best all-time.
