Three First-Place Finishes Highlight Women’s Outdoor Track & Field on Day One of Osprey Open

Galloway, NJ – The Montclair State University women's outdoor track and field team opened up the Osprey Open with a huge day highlighted by three first-place finishes on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Red Hawks earned the top three spots in the triple jump. Leading the way was MARYAM KARIYM, who won with a jump of 10.33m (33' 10.75"). CHARLEY KLINE nabbed second (10.24m/33' 7.25") and was followed by SARAH LUMAS in third place (10.02m/32' 10.50").
MAYA YESALONIS won the hammer throw with a distance of 41.12m (134' 11"). She was followed in second by KAITLYN CHIRKIS, who threw 40.24m (132'). CHLOE BRIJBAG was also in the top 10 with an eighth-place finish of 34.59m (113' 2").
The 4x200 relay quartet of AISHA GARCIA, MCKAY ALBY, MAILE O'NEILL, and Katelyn Rodriguez was victorious in the event, clocking a team time of 1:42.65.
BRIANNA RODDY notched second place today in the 3000-meter steeplechase. She finished with a time of 13:04.14.
Montclair ran two 4x800 relays today. The mashup of CECILE BERNARD, JORDAN BOHRER, MACKENZIE COCHRAN, and MIA GERACE placed third with a time of 10:38.33. Finishing behind in fourth was the team of VIVIAN O'LOUGHLIN, ALISSA TAYLOR, MAEVE WEBER, and Sofia Melo Paterina, who clocked a team time of 10:47.84.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

The 4x200 relay team put together a school-record performance in the meet.
Chirkis and Brijbag each notched personal-best marks in the hammer throw.
