Bethlehem, PA – Montclair State University women's soccer head coach Patrick Naughter earned a career milestone on Wednesday evening with his 200
th career win as the Red Hawks (4-0-3) downed Moravian (1-6-1) on the road, 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montclair went on the attack right away and put a lot of pressure on the Moravian goalkeeper. The Red Hawks registered two shots on goal in the first minute and a half of the game and six in the first 12 minutes.
- The pressure kept up, and at the 34:50 mark in the first half, SAMIRA LUKOVIC capitalized on a set piece for the game's first goal. The Red Hawks took the 1-0 lead into the intermission.
- After an early attack from the Greyhounds, the Red Hawks went back to having control of the match. In the 55th minute, Montclair was awarded a corner where CARLY GUZZARDO connected with Lukovic for her second goal of the game to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Red Hawks took a commanding 3-0 lead in the 75th minute when KAYDEN ARAVENA put a shot into the back of the net, and the game was capped off in the 83rd minute with a goal by MIKAYLA HENDERSON. Montclair came away with an emphatic 4-0 victory.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- It was a light night for SALANGE BELL, who picked up her third shutout win of the season while facing no shots on goal.
- Montclair's offense has shown the ability to score goals early in the season as they had their fourth multi-goal game of the season and their third game of four or more goals on the year.
- The Red Hawk defense has also impressed. They have not allowed any team to shoot into the double digits all season, and it is the third time this season that they have held a team to just two shots all game.
- With his 200th win, Naughter becomes the 14th coach in Montclair history to surpass that mark across all sports and is the sixth active coach to earn this achievement.
FROM THE FIELD
"I think we played much better in the second half. We know that the NJAC demands 90-minute performances and increased attention to detail. We are looking forward to the challenge of NJAC games." - Head Coach Pat Naughter
