LAST TIME OUT

Montclair blanked LIU for the second week in a row with a 31-0 triumph on Monday. Montclair stalled on the first drive of the game, but forced a punt on LIU's first possession. GENEVIEVE FARA weaved through traffic for a 45-yard return touchdown, but it was called back for a flag guarding penalty. The Red Hawks ended up capitalizing on the drive anyway. HADDIYAH BELL hit MAYA ANICO for 15 yards, followed by an EMILY DEL ROSARIO run of 21 yards. Del Rosario ended up punching in the score from seven yards out to take a 7-0 lead. The game entered the second quarter with no scores on either side. After forcing a turnover on downs, the Sharks put together a solid drive that crossed into Montclair territory. Anico eliminated any scoring attempt with an interception with 4:08 remaining in the half. Following a 15-yard connection from Bell to KIMORA WESTON, Gianna Marie Greenhalgh ripped off a 24-yard scamper to put the Red Hawks up 13-0. LIU gained possession with two minutes remaining, but on the first play from scrimmage, Fara undercut a throw and returned it 15 yards for her second interception touchdown in two weeks and stamped the score at 19-0 heading into halftime. The two teams played hot potato on the first possessions of the third quarter. SERENITY MUHAMMED forced an interception on Long Island's first possession. Bell was picked off on the following play, but Greenhalgh secured the ball back on the ensuing play to flip the script right back in Montclair's favor. With 8:30 in the third, Bell dropped in a deep ball to Muhammed that was good for 38 yards. Bell then fit a tight window ball into Weston for a five-yard score that extended the Red Hawk lead to 25-0. The final score of the game came on a drive that started at the end of the third and into the fourth quarter. Bell had a nice run of 11 yards that saw more yards tacked onto it due to a tackling penalty. Fara entered at quarterback and on fourth down, placed a ball over the defense and along the backline of the endzone to Anico for an 11-yard score. The score pushed the game to 31-0, a lead Montclair carried to the final whistle.
