Academic Planning/Advising
SDA assists student-athletes with planning out their schedules and career in academics while participating in sport. Information is given to students about appropriate college advising centers and assistance. Registration guidance, advisement, and major/minor information are also provided for all student-athletes. In addition, the SDA staff works in unison with the departments on campus to ensure that student-athletes are provided the opportunity to take classes that meet the demands of their busy schedules.
Academic Monitoring
Student-athletes are monitored for classroom progress throughout the semester. Progress Reports are submitted by professors through Navigate. The SDA Advisors receive and assess the reports and work closely with the coaching staff to assist those students that are in academic danger. If a problem is discovered, SDA guides the student in finding the proper method of academic success, such as free tutoring, workshops, or requesting additional help.
NCAA Student-Athlete Affairs
NCAA Student-Athlete Affairs provides life skills support in the areas of academics, athletics, personal development, career development, and service through the distribution of accessible resources, strategic partnerships, and customized programming throughout the academic year. Student-Athlete Affairs programs, resources, and events are designed to promote the well-being and development of student-athletes and to provide ongoing education and training to athletics professionals who identify and serve student-athlete needs.
