Biography

2020 SEASON: Batted .333 in 11 games, making eight starts before season was canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic...collected nine hits including a double with four RBI...boasted a 1.000 fielding percentage and threw out five baserunners behind the plate...1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in season-opener against Catholic on February 22...2-for-5 against Ferrum on February 29...closed out the season with hits in final four games, including a pinch-hit, walk-off single against nationally-ranked Cortland...ended the year with two RBI in win over Stevenson on March 10.

2019 SEASON: Appeared in 31 games…Was 2-for-2 with a double along with an RBI and scored run in the second game of the doubleheader versus Westminster on March 10…Was 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored against Kean on April 17…Had two hits along with an RBI and run scored in the second game of a doubleheader versus Rutgers-Camden on April 13…Recorded two RBI at Kean on April 18…Had one hit and an RBI against UMass Dartmouth on March 14…Recorded a single hit and RBI in both games of the doubleheader versus Stockton on April 6.

2018 SEASON: Played in 33 games… Tabbed Honorable Mention All-Conference in 2018… Bates hit .261 overall with 14 RBI and 19 runs scored. The sophomore had a .984 fielding percentage and threw out 10 baserunners during the season. Bates went 3-for-4 with two RBI versus Central College on Montclair State's trip to Florida in early March. He went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs in a 6-0 win against William Paterson on April 6 and drove in a pair of runs in MSU' 12-5 win over New Jersey City on April 2-0. Two days later, Bates went 3-for-4 with an RBI as Montclair completed a sweep of NJCU with a 4-3 triumph.

2017 SEASON: Appeared in 17 games… Had an RBI against Ferrum in the Red Hawks’ season opener on February 25… Drove in a run versus Suffolk on March 12… Was 1-for-3 with two RBI against Stockton in Game 1 of a doubleheader on April 2… Was 1-for-3 with a run scored and RBI versus New Jersey City on April 20… Had three hits and an RBI versus Rutgers-Newark in the final doubleheader of the season on April 29.
