Macchia got the first two starts of his career and came through with solid performances for the Red Hawks. He went 5 2/3 inning striking out five in a no-decision on the road at No. 23 Eastern Connecticut. Macchia then came back four days later and fired a complete-game five hitter striking out four as Montclair defeated Rutgers-Camden 7-1 in the first game of its doubleheader. Macchia gave up five singles and retired 16 of the final 18 batters he faced in picking up is first collegiate victory.
