Sophomore soccer midfielder Dan Mendoza (Hackensack, NJ / Hackensack), who was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week, wins Athlete of the Week honors for a second time after helping Montclair State reach the Sectional Tournament of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championsip for the fourth time in six years last week. Mendoza tallied three goals during first and second-round play last week. He had a goal in the Red Hawks’ 5-0 win over Framingham State. The next day he accounted for both goals as Montclair State advanced to the Sweet 16 with a 2-1 double-overtime win against Dickinson College. Mendoza buried the game-winner with 6:33 remaining in the second OT. He currently leads the team and is ranked second in the NJAC in goals and points and is fourth in game-winning goals with five.
