Despite a season-opening loss to Delaware Valley, Nieves provided the Red Hawks with plenty of offense as he rushed for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the 30-20 setback. Nieves, who carried 16 times, averaged 10.1 yards per carry and brought Montclair State back from a 13-point halftime deficit with scoring runs of 45 and 29 yards in the third quarter. Nieves currently leads the New Jersey Athletic Conference in rushing and over his last five games dating back to last season, he is averaging 145.8 yards per game with eight touchdowns.
