Mantineo, the final male MSU Athlete of the Week winner for 2014-15, was dominating at the faceoff for the Red Hawks as MSU claimed its seventh consecutive Skyline Conference championship last week. The sophomore was 12-of-21 on face offs with eight ground balls as top-seeded Montclair advanced to the championship game with a 17-8 victory against Farmingdale State. He then won 17-of-19 faceoffs with 12 ground balls (one shy of the single-game) record helping the Red Hawks capture the title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with an 11-4 victory over Stockton University. Mantineo, who is 39-of-51 on face offs in his last three games, ranks among the leaders in the Skyline Confernce in faceoff percentage. Montclair State takes on Middlebury College in the first round of the NCAAs on Wednesday, May 6 in Vermont.
