Glassboro, NJ – Montclair State ended the hardest part of its football season yesterday, after ending its regular season by whipping Glassboro State, 45-0.
The Indians must now play a frustrating waiting game for two days until they learn whether or not they will be invited to play in the Knute Rockne Bowl game November 28 in Atlantic City Convention Hall.
Hopefully, the bow committee will find Montclair State's credentials impressive when it meets tomorrow at Temple. Selection of the bowl teams will be announced Tuesday.
In demolishing Glassboro State, Coach Clary Anderson's Indians won their second straight New Jersey State Conference championship. Montclair State has won eight of nine games and is in second place in Lambert Bowl competition.
The Indians encountered little resistance from Glassboro State, moving easily to their best record since 1964. Anderson's aggressive forces scored seven of the 14 times they had the ball, amassed 575 yards of total offense and set six team and individual records.
TONY VALPONE and Glenn Morchauser were the trigger men in Montclair State's explosive attack. Valpone, a 5-10, 205 pound fullback from Somerset slashed and twisted through the line 25 times for 158 yards and one touchdown. Morchauser, a 6-foot, 190 pounder from Paramus, carried 24 times on wide runs for 112 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Of the six records, Morchauser set two. His 78 points and 13 touchdowns are season records. Valpone established a career rushing record of 1,886 yards. 
ROLAND KASCHER broke Montclair State
S career pass-receiving record with 50 receptions. The Indians 247 points this season and 419 yards in 82 rushing plays against Glassboro also will be logged into the record book.
The outcome of the game never was in doubt and Montclair staged scoring drives covering 74, 68, 66, 60, 59, 49 and 46 yards.
Valpone aided by magnificent blocking, burst through the line five times for 45 yards. The first time Montclair State had the ball, smashing through right guard from solid T formation from the one to score the first touchdown.
Morchauser's three touchdowns were on runs of three, two and one yards. Split end 
JOHN DALLY scored twice, once on a 47-yard pass from quarterback 
BOB BREWSTER and thesecond on a 51-yard pass from reserve quarterback 
BOB COSENTINO. 
HENRY KRUPINSKI scored the final Montclair State touchdown on a one-yard thrust.
Defensively, Montclair State thwarted Glassboro from beginning to end, with a swarming, vigorous effort, led by linebacker 
PETE CONTALDI. The Profs gained only 36 yards in 25 rushes, while their backs were thrown for losses totaling 42 yards. Glassboro State's passes were either inaccurate or dropped by receivers and Montclair surrendered only 65 passing yards.
Glassboro State its supporters in the crowd of 2,000 little chance to cheer. Except for a drive to Montclair State's 26-yard line in the game's opening minutes, the Profs never passed midfield fo the remainder of the chilly afternoon.
