Ellerson Provides Spark in Victory at Wilmington (DE), 11-1

New Castle, DE – Junior shortstop BRIAN ELLERSON homered and drove in three runs as Montclair State rebounded from its loss on Saturday with an 11-1 victory over Wilmington College on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior left fielder FRANK LONGO went 4-for-4 and also had three RBI as the Red Hawks moved back over the .500 mark at 7-7. Catcher JEFF SCHRIBER collected two RBI.

Ellerson gave MSU all the runs it would need in the first inning, drilling a three-run homer that scored FRANK LONGO and CRAIG CONWAY, who reached on a single and walk, respectively. Montclair added to the lead in the fifth with two runs courtesy of Schriber, who singled to center making the score, 5-0.

SCOTT CLARK led off the sixth with a single and stole second before scoring on Longo's RBI double for a 6-0 advantage and Montclair State plated four more in the seventh. CHRIS BARAN scored on an error with Longo plating two more on a triple to right. Conway followed with an RBI single pushing the lead to 10-0.

Junior left-hander COREY HAMMAN got the victory in the contest that was called for darkness after eight innings. Hamman allowed a hit with five strikeouts and a walk in four innings. Tom Ellis (1-1) took the loss to the Wildcats (13-2).
