Fayetteville, NC – The Montclair State baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Thursday at Methodist falling 14-3 in the opener and 7-4 in the nightcap.
SEAN MORRISON drove in a pair of runs in the first game with
CHRIS BARAN homering in the second for the Red Hawks, who are now 3-4 overall, 1-3 on its North Carolina swing.
Methodist took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Richard Dombrowsky doubled in a run and then scored on a wild pitch. Montclair State got a run back in the third on a
GEORGE BECKER sacrifice fly, however the Monarchs pushed the lead to 5-1 in the fourth.
Kyle Johnson made it a 7-1 contest in the fifth with a two-run double. Morrison's two-run double in the sixth closed the gap to four runs, but Methodist put the game away with the final seven runs, including a six-run sixth inning.
Justin Scali (3-0), one of six Monarchs pitchers, got the victory with two scoreless innings. Righthander
JOSH PINE (0-1) took the loss for Montclair State.
In the second game, Baran slugged a solo home run in the first and later added an RBI double in the fifth as the Red Hawks took a 4-2 advantage.
CRAIG CONWAY had an RBI single.
But Methodist answered with a five-run fifth inning, three coming off the bat of designated hitter Dan Giles, who homered to right-center giving the Monarchs a 5-4 lead. Jesus Adames added an RBI double and scored on a wild pitch to account for the final two runs.

Montclair continues its trip on Friday, March 9 with a rematch again North Carolina Wesleyan in Rocky Mount looking to avenge a 17-3 loss to the Battling Bishops on Tuesday.
