Upper Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University men's & women's swimming & diving teams swept the College Misercordia (PA) Cougars on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Panzer Pool.
The MSU women won, 116-79, while the MSU men triumphed, 100-79. Both Red Hawk teams, who rebounded from losses to visiting Drew University the day before, are both now 3-7 overall this winter.
Sophomore
DANIELLE FLORIO (Lyndhurst, NJ) won the 1000 free (12:12.23) , 200 IM (2:33.53) and 500 free (5:56.94) for the Montclair women, while classmate
COLLEEN GRIFFIN (Bloomfield, NJ) triumphed in the 50 free (25.75) and 100 free (57.90). Junior
REGINA POTOCNIE (Whitehall, PA) completed MSU's dominance by claiming the 200 free (2:05.41) and 200 fly (2:19.16).
Freshman Jon Sindall (Bridgeton, NJ) paced the MSU men by finishing first in the 1000 free (11:43.92) and 200 back (2:20.86), while junior
EDDIE FERNANDEZ (Jersey City, NJ) took the 200 IM (2:14.64) and 200 breast (2:35.19).
The MSU women's swim team returns to action this Saturday, Jan. 18, on the road against Rowan and Kean in a pair of New Jersey Athletic Conference meets.
