South Orange, NJ (12/03/02) - The Montclair State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both defeated tonight at NCAA Division I Seton Hall University. The Red Hawk men lost, 140-89, to fall to 2-2 overall, while the MSU women fell, 133-105, and are now 3-2 on the season.
Montclair State junior JASON MARTINELLI (West New York, NJ/St. Joseph's) finished first in the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle, in a time of 23.09 seconds. Freshman DREW DECAGNA (Springfield, NJ/Jonathan Dayton) finished second in the Men's 200 Breaststroke in 2:32.59 minutes, while sophomore SHANE SCHWARZ (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) finished third in the Men's 1000 Free (11:13.70).
Montclair sophomore COLLEEN GRIFFIN (Bloomfield, NJ/Lacordaire Academy) finished first in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle, in a time of 25.57 seconds, and senior REGINA POTOCNIE (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) took first place in the Women's 200 Freestyle (2:05.94). Sophomore MONIQUE FALLAHA (Montville, NJ/Montville) claimed both the Women's 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dives.
MSU now hosts Kutztown (PA) tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at Panzer Pool.
