Cal Lutheran Tops Montclair State

Thousand Oaks,CA -- Luje Stajcar and Andy Luttrell each homeredduring a six-run seventh inning as California Luthern University topped fourth-ranked Montclair State, 9-4 on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior shortstop BRIAN ELLERSON (Bayonne, NJ/Hudson Catholic) extended his hittingstreak to 20 games as he belted a solo homer while SHAWN DYCKMAN (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) was 3-for-4 with three doubles, tying the MSU single-game record.

The Red Hawks (4-2) grabbed a 3-0 lead after 3 1/2 as Dyckman delivered an RBIsingle in the second. TOMMY WARTH (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) and  ADAM CERMINARO (Wall, NJ/Wall) each had RBI singles in the fourth.

Cal Lutheran wouldget back two runs in the fourth and after MSU took a 4-2 lead inthe fifth, pulled within a run in the sixth as Jason Clarios hit a solo homer to make the score 4-3.

Then in the seventh,Stajcar homered with two outs to give CLU a 5-4 lead. After a pairof walks, Luttrell then blasted a three run shot to left for an8-4 advantage. RYAN COONEY capped off the inning with an RBI double.

Senior rightfielder Chria Baran (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) drove in a pair of runs forthe Red Hawks (4-1), who rallied from a 5-4 deficit with four runsin the seventh inning.

Kevin Rakowski (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) suffered the loss, falling to 0-2 onthe season. Rakowski struck out 10 in 6 2/3 innings.
