Red Hawks Sweep Ramapo, 12-0 & 7-3

Mahwah, NJ - Senior southpaw COREY HAMMAN (Flanders, NJ/Roxbury) improved to 6-1 tossing a one-hitter in seven innings of work as MSU captured game number one, 12-0 on Saturday afternoon at Jeff Maund Field. In game number two, Kevin Rakowski (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) led the way as he threw seven innings to earn his second victory of the year and the twinbill sweep 7-3 in the nightcap.

The Red Hawks dominated game number one pounding out 12 runs on 17 hits including scoring in every frame except two. Montclair State blew open the game in the fifth inning entering with a 4-0 lead and plating four additional runs. BRIAN ELLERSON (Bayonne, NJ/Hudson Catholic) led off the inning with his team leading 16th double followed by a single off the bat of JOE GIACOMIAZZIO (E. Brunswick, NJ/E. Brunswick). Back to back singles from SHAWN DYCKMAN (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) and ADAM CERMINARO (Wall, NJ/Wall) drove in two to put the Red Hawks ahead 6-0. Later that inning TOMMY WARTH (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) singled across Dyckman and rounding out the scoring was designated hitter MICHAEL ALLAN (Glen Gardner, NJ/Delaware Valley Reg.) with a sacrifice fly for the 8-0 advantage.

Hamman (6-1) picked up the win as he tossed seven innings of one-hit shutout ball, fanning ten and walking none. Hamman opened up the game retiring the first 13 batters he faced.

In the nightcap, MSU broke open the game in the fourth inning with three runs for a 5-0 lead. Sophomore P.J. BACCARELLA (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) ripped a RBI triple for the first run of the inning, followed by an RBI fielder's choice from Allan. Later that inning, Ellerson rounded out the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice.

Rakowski (2-2) earned the victory in seven innings of work. He allowed two unearned runs on three hits, while striking out three.
