Red Hawks Blank Stockton, 15-0

Pomona, NJ (4/5/02) - Junior lefthander JASON ARRE (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) tossed six strong innings of shutout ball as Montclair State, ranked fifth in Division III, picked up their seventh straight victory by defeating Richard Stockton this afternoon, 15-0.

P.J. BACCARELLA (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) had three hits and an RBI while teammates ADAM CERMINARO (Wall, NJ/Wall) and CHRIS BARAN (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) each had two hits for the Red Hawks, who pounded out 15 hits in the contest.

MSU (14-4, 4-0) jumped out to an early 7-0 advantage after sending 11 batters to the plate in the first inning. Junior JOE GIACOMIAZZIO (E. Brunswick, NJ/E. Brunswick) singled home the first two runs of the game, followed by SHAWN DYCKMAN (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) who singled home run number three. Still in the first with a 5-0 advantage, two runs with the aid of a throwing error, sophomore CHRIS MAYO (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) singled home Cerminaro to put MSU up 6-0 and rounding out the scoring in the first, MICHAEL ALLAN (Glen Gardner, NJ/Del. Valley Reg.) with an RBI double.

That would be all the run support Arre would need as he improved to 2-0 on the year. Arre tossed six innings allowing two hits, while fanning seven and walking only one. Relievers JOSH PINE (Trenton, NJ/Steinert), JAMES SUROWIEC (Sparta, NJ/Sparta), JAY ROMAN (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) and Ric Haas (Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) pitched the final three innings allowing only two hits and striking out three.
