Dallas, PA (01/15/03) - The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up victories as the Red Hawks swept host College Misericordia on Wednesday afternoon. The MSU men posted a 99-78 victory while the women's squad defeated Misericordia, 131-83.
The men (3-4) snapped a three-meet losing streak while the women's team (5-4) won for the second time in three meets.
Senior REGINA POTOCNIE (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) highlighted the evening for the Red Hawks as she captured the 200 Butterfly in a time of 2:20.95 while setting the Misericordia Pool record.
Potocnie then teammed with COLLEEN GRIFFIN (Bloomfield, NJ/Lacordaire Academy), MEAGHAN KILGALLEN (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ/Immaculata Heart) and DIANA GIL (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) to set the pool record in the 400 Freestyle Relay (3:59.06).
On the men's side, CHRIS PETRILLO (Island Heights, NJ/Central Regional) took first place in the 200 individual medley (2:18.04) with SHANE SCHWARZ (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) capturing the 200 Freestyle (1:57.03).
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, January 18 at Rowan University in a men's and women's dual meet. The women's team will also face Kean University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action.
