Belton, TX - Second baseman Jimmy Wright doubled down the line in the bottom of the eighth to drive home Andrew King for what would be the winning run as Mary Hardin-Baylor scored four late inning runs to defeat Montclair State 8-6 Thursday afternoon in Belton, TX.
Wright finished the day with a 2-5 performance, including two doubles and two RBI for the Crusaders (8-6).
BRIAN SHEEKEY (Palm Coast, FL/Father Lopez) was 2-5 with two RBI for the Red Hawks (2-5).
Montclair scored four runs in the top of the second to take a 4-2 lead.
DANNY RODRIGUEZ (Monmouth, NJ/S. Brunswick) walked with the bases loaded for MSU's first run. Sheekey then provided an RBI single and senior
JOE GIACOMIAZZIO (E. Brunswick, NJ/E. Brunswick) rounded out the scoring with a two RBI single up the middle.
The Red Hawks then broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the seventh as Sheekey doubled home sophomore
ETHAN BOYD (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) and shortstop
MIKE WEISS (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Regional) singled across Sheekey for the 6-4 lead.
The Crusaders then rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth, off of four hits and three MSU errors for the 8-6 advantage.
JUSTIN LORENTZEN (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) took the loss for the Red Hawks. Lorentzen (0-1) allowed four runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings of relief.
