JON MARZELLA (Cedar Knolls, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) added a three-run shot as Montclair State opened its 2003 home schedule with a 7-4 victory over SUNY Cortland at Yogi Berra Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
JOE GIACOMIAZZIO (E. Brunswick, NJ/E. Brunswick) had two doubles for the Red Hawks (4-7), who won their second straight following a four-game losing streak. Neal Heaton, Jr.. (Bellport, NY/Bellport) was 3-for-5 with two runs scored for the Red Dragons (4-7), who have dropped three consecutive games.

P.J. BACCARELLA (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) then followed with a single to load the bases before Jones belted the first pitch from Matt Miller (Harrison, NY/Harrison) over the centerfield wall.
The Red Hawks extended their lead in the sixth after Cortland pushed across a run. Giacomiazzio led off with a double and moved to third on a
BRIAN SHEEKEY (Palm Coast, FL/Father Lopez) bunt single. Marzella then launched a Miller pitch over the right-centerfield fence for his first of the season.
Cortland rallied back to 7-4 as they pushed across two runs in the eighth and added another in the ninth. The Red Dragons then loaded the bases with two out before reliever ALAN SANDBERG (Sussex, NJ/High Point Regional) got Pat D'Auria (Nyack, NY/Nyack) to ground out to seal the victory for the Red Hawks.
Junior lefthander
JEFF GOGAL (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) picked up his second victory. Gogal (2-0) went eight innings allowing three runs, one earned, and eight hits, striking out five and walking one. Miller (1-1) suffered the loss allowing seven runs and eight hits in five innings. He struck out two and walked three.
Ben Albright (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) and Andy Mead (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) had two hits apiece for Cortland.
DANNY RODRIGUEZ (South Brunswick, NJ/S. Brunswick) was 1-for-4 with a double for the Red Hawks.
