Little Falls, NJ - Senior Brian Huber (Blue Point, NY/St. John the Baptist) went 4-for-6 with two RBI and teammate Travis Robinson (Ilion, NY/Ilion) drove in three runs as the Red Dragons of SUNY-Cortland defeated Montclair State, 13-7 at Yogi Berra Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Nate Gagnon (Wilton, NY/South Glens Falls) was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored for SUNY-Cortland (5-7), which broke a three game losing streak. J
JOE GIACOMIAZZIO (East Brunswick, NJ/E. Brunswick) was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored for Montclair State (4-7), which committed five errors in today's contest.
The Red Dragons jumped out to an early 5-0 lead only to see that lead slip away as the Red Hawks chipped away to tie the game in the bottom of the 4th inning. SUNY-Cortland then took the lead for good as freshman Andy Mead (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) recorded an RBI groundout to score Gagnon, who led off the inning with a single.
SUNY-Cortland put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh plating four runs. Robinson and Matt Ellis (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) each delivered a run with an RBI single and the Red Dragons added two more runs as they capitalized on two Montclair State miscues for a 10-5 advantage.
