MSU Drops Texas Opener to Dallas, 6-5

Irving, TX - Jason Snailer scored on an infield error with two out in the bottom of the 10th for the winning run as the University of Dallas rallied from three runs down in the ninth to defeat Montclair, 6-5 on Saturday afternoon. The game was the first of eight for the Red Hawks on their Spring Trip.

Snailer drew a two-out walk and stole second before moving over to third on a wild pitch by ALEX THOMPSON (Whippany, NJ/Whippany). After a walk to Brian Spinner put runners at the corners, Mayan Corioso grounded a ball to short that was mishandled allowing Snailer to score the winning run.

The Crusaders trailed 5-2 heading into the ninth before rallying for three runs to tie the game. Cole Monreal drove in two runs with a double and Andrian Cantu singled home the tying run to send the game into extra innings.
Brian Skeekey (Palm Coast, FL/Father Lopez), MIKE WEISS (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Regional) and ETHAN BOYD (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amoby) led the Red Hawks with two hits apiece.

Montclair State broke a 2-2 tie in the 6th as sophomore TOMMY WARTH (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) hit a sacrifice fly to score Skeekey who reached base on a double to lead off the inning. MSU extended their lead in the 7th as they tacked on two runs off a pinch hit double by MATT BENEDETTI (Summit, NJ/Summit) and an RBI single by Boyd for a 5-2 advantage.

Southpaw JEFF GOGAL (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) pitched into the eighth inning allowing two runs on six hits. He fanned 10 and walked three as he received a no-deicision. Meanwhile the MSU bullpen allowed four runs and four hits in just 1 1/3 innings.

The Red Hawks will travel across Texas to take on Schreiner University on Sunday afternoon at 2pm (Central Time).
