Kerrville, TX - : Chase Kimball had four hits, including including the game-winning RBI, Schreiner University handed Montclair State its second straight loss, 8-6 at Mountaineer Field on Sunday afternoon.
The loss dropped MSU to 0-2 on its eight-game Texas trip.
Travis Turner had two hits including an RBI for Schreiner (3-5).
ETHAN BOYD (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amoby) led the Red Hawks (1-2) going 3-for-5, including two doubles and an RBI.
Montclair State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as
TOMMY WARTH (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) lofted a sacrifice fly and
JON MARZELLA (Cedar Knolls, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) singled home Brian Skeekey (Palm Coast, FL/Father Lopez).
The Mountaineers responded back with three runs in the bottom of the inning, with two scoring on wild pitches. MSU chipped away with a single run in the second and two runs in the fourth before scoring their final run of the game in the seventh with an RBI single from junior PJ Baccarella (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne).
Sophomore
KEITH SCHNEIDER (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock Twp.) suffered the loss for the Red Hawks. Freshman
JAY COOK (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) provided four scoreless innings of relief. Cook struck out four while allowing only three hits.
The Red Hawks will take on McMurry University on Monday afternoon at 2:30pm (Central time).
