York, PA (4/15/03) - Mike Welch and Andy Puglisi each drove in two as York College (PA) pushed past Montclair State 6-4 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon in York, PA.

JOE GIACOMIAZZIO (East Brunswick, NJ/E. Brunswick) had two RBI and three runs scored for the Red Hawks (9-12-1) who collected only six hits in today's contest.

Montclair jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Giacomiazzio crushed a two run blast over the centerfield wall in the top of the first inning. York then chipped away tying the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI groundout by Welch.

The Spartans then took the lead in the next frame plating two runs on a fielders choice and a single to centerfield for a 4-2 advantage.

The Red Hawks came within one in their next at bat as MIKE WEISS (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape Regional) reached first base on a bases-loaded hit-by-a-pitch.

York then added two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly for a 6-3 advantage and a lead they would not relinquish.

JAMES CARIELLO (Springfield, NJ/Jonathan Dayton) suffered the loss for Montclair. Cariello (0-1) tossed 6 1/3 inning in his first start of the 2003 season. He allowed five runs, three earned, and six hits. He also struck out three and walked three.

PJ Baccarella (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) and BRIAN SHEEKEY (Palm Coast, FL/Father Lopez) each had two hits for the Red Hawks.
