Dallas, PA (12/07/04) - The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams split their dual meet with Misericordia on Tuesday evening. The Red Hawk (4-3) held off the Cougars in the final event for a 105-94 victory while the MSU (3-5) women fell to Misericordia, 127-76.
On the men's side Junior
DREW DECAGNA (right) won the 200 breaststroke while also finishing second in the 200 individual medley. DeCagna won the breaststroke with a time of 2:24.30 and had a time of 2:15.13 in the 200 IM. Also winning for the Red Hawks were freshman
RICKY MILLER, who captured the 200 freestyle (1:50.22) and
SCOTT MONTGOMERY (2:09.34) a first-place finisher in the 200 backstroke.
SHANE SCHWARZ took top placing in the 200 fly (2:11.83).
The quartet also comprised the winning relay team in the 400 medley event (3:55.00).
On the women's side,
ADRIENNE RICHARDI was the lone individual first-place winner for Montclair State as she captured the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:53.85. MSU won the 400 freestyle relay as the team of
KRISTINE BATES,
RACHEL YANNUZZI,
DIANA GIL and
LINDSEY NEWMAN posted a time of 3:56.67.
The Red Hawks return to action for their final dual meet of the 2004 calendar year. Montclair will be at Kings Point to take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, December 11.
