Swimming Splits With King's Point

Montclair, NJ (12/13/05) – Montclair State freshman KIM CORREDOR was a triple winner on the women's side while Jay Carpenter was a triple-winner for Kings Point as the Red Hawks and Mariners split a swimming and diving dual meet at the Panzer Pool on Tuesday evening. The Montclair State women (5-3) posted a 143-88 victory while the USMMA men triumphed 129-102.

Corredor captured the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:26.58 and later won the 200 butterfly (2:24.70). She also helped the MSU 400 medley relay team to victory. Corredor, Jessica Stever, TRACEY GROEL and KRISTINE BATES posted a winning time of 4:27.41. AMY WUKO took first place in the 1000 freestyle (12:18.12) while KAITLIN MUCHLER won the 200 freestyle (2:07.16). Bates took top honors in the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 26.32 and 57.57, respectively. LINDSEY NEWMAN won the 200 backstroke (2:21.87) and ADRIENNE RICHARDI posted a top placing in the 500 freestyle (5:46.27).

For USMMA, which suffered its first loss of the season (3-1), Marlaina Pippen won both sections of the diving competition with scores or 127.80 and 132.45, respectively. Robyn Jimenez took first in the 200 breaststroke (2:40.23) and the Mariners also won the 400 freestyle relay (4:24.91).

Carpenter won the 200 individual medley (2:01.52) and 100 freestyle (50.31). He also swam the second led on the first-place 400 medley relay team as he was joined by Scott Pearson, Jesse Bowser and Victor Policarpio. The quartet posted a time of 3:44.28. Matt Ellison was a double winner in the 1000 freestyle (10:36.53) and 200 butterfly (2:06.40) while David Scarberry took first in the 500 freestyle (5:00.22). Mickey Hand won the second portion of the diving with a score of 161.63.

For Montclair State (5-3), RICKY MILLER was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:49.58) and BRYANT EDWARDS won the early section of the 1-meter diving (129.53). JOHN ADAMS took first place in the 200 backstroke (2:04.48) and Drew Decagna won the 200 breaststroke (2:20.51). MSU also won the 400 freestyle relay as Miller, MATT CAPPILLA, AHMED ABDELAAL and RYAN GORSKY recorded a time of 3:35.46.

Montclair State is now out of action until Saturday, January 14 when they travel to Hoboken to take on the Ducks of Stevens at 1:00 pm .
