Wayne, NJ – Junior left fielder Pete Zaccheria went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases as William Paterson defeated backyard and New Jersey Athletic Conference rival Montclair State, 10-2, Thursday at Wightman Baseball Park.
Senior righty Dan Sweeney tossed five scoreless innings, scattering seven hits and struck out three, improving his record to 2-3 as the Pioneers (11-13, 3-6 NJAC) snapped a five-game losing skid.

The Pioneers got things started in the first, sending 10 batters to the plate in the first. They pushed across their first run on an RBI single by junior first baseman Doug Rader , bringing home second baseman Tim Banos , who hit a one-out double to start William Paterson's surge. Senior designated hitter Jeremy Winter struck the inning's big blow when he drilled a bases-clearing double to right field.
William Paterson added two more runs in the third and another four in the fifth. Rader finished 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored, senior catcher Anthony Mazzo was 2-for-3 with an RBI and freshman shortstop Dan Limone was 2-for-3 and scored a run. All told, the Pioneers amassed 15 hits.
