Dallas, PA (12/9/06) – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams split their dual meet with College Misericordia on Saturday afternoon. The Red Hawk men (4-3) posted a 111-70 triumpg over the Cougars while the MSU (2-5) women fell, 127-76.
MOHAMED ABDELAAL (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) won both the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 22.48 and 50.94, respectively. The senior then helped the 400 medley realy team to victory as the quartet registered a time of 3:55.42. Abdelaal was joine on the team by
JOHN ADAMS (Wharton, NJ/Pope John XXIII),
TIM CHAMBROVICH (Allenhurst, NJ/Red Bank Regional) and Joe Sweeney (Highland Lakes, NJVernon).
Chambrovich would also take first-place honors in the 400 indvidiual medley with a time of 4:34.22 while Adams won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:07.07.
RICKY MILLER (Seaside Park, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) captured the 200 freestyle for the Red Hawks as he clocked in at 1:52.87 and
BRANDON SANDS (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) was timed in first in the 1650 freestyle at 18:01.34.
On the women's side,
LAURA FLYNN (Andover, NJ/Lenape Valley) was the lone winner for Montclair State. Flynn won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:23.31.
AMY WUKO (Wildwood Crest, NJ/Wildwood Catholic)had a second-place finish in the 1650 freestyle as she recorded a season-best time of 20:13.22.
Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, December 12 as the Red Hawks compete in their final dual meet of the 2006 calendar year. MSU will travel to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY where they will take on the Mariners at 6:00 pm.
