VICENTE MEDINA drove in two runs during a seven-run sixth inning as Montclair State posted its second straight victory with a 10-5 win over Keene State at the RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational on Tuesday.
ED KLOEPPING belted a pair of home runs and finished with three RBI for the Red Hawks (3-5), who are now 2-3 on their Arizona trip.
MSU trailed 2-0 in the third inning, but cut that in half as Kloepping connected on the first of hit two home runs.
LOU POLITAN led off the fifth with a home to center and Kloepping followed with another solo shot giving the Red Hawks a 3-2 advantage.
Montclair State then broke the game open in the sixth sending 11 batters to the plate. Politan got it started with an RBI single and Kloepping's run-scoring double made 5-2.
JEFF MILLER singled in a run as did
KEVIN CUOZZI before a two-run hit by Medina pushed the lead to 9-2.
MICHAEL NUNES had the final run scoring Cuozzi on a fielder's choice.
Joe Allison hit a three-run homer in the eighth to bring the Owls within 10-5, however that would be as close as Keene State would get.
Lefthander
KEVIN DALTON picked up the victory as he went the first seven innings allowing two runs and eight hits, striking out seven.
Cuozzi had three hits with Politan, Miller, Rob Clark and Medina each collecting two in the 16-hit Red Hawk attack.
MSU closes out its RussMatt appearance on Wednesday, March 19 taking on The College at Brockport.
