Dallas, PA (1/17/09) – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving dropped a dual meet to Misericordia University on Saturday. The Red Hawks, in their first dual meet since mid December fell to the Cougars as the women's team (2-6) dropped to 2-6 with a 141-115 defeat while the men's team is now 2-5 following a 129-123 loss.
Tim Chambrovich (Allenhuhrst, NJ / Red Bank Regional) led the men's squad as he posted two individual ictories and then helped the 400 freestyle relay team to victory. Chambrovich won both butterfly races as he won the 200 fly with a time of 2:05.61 before coming back to take the 100 fly with a time of 54.89. Chambrovich then teamed with
BLAISE LACCA ( Sewell, NJ / Washington Township),
MATT HYDE ( Clifton, NJ / Clifton) and
JOHN ADAMS ( Wharton, NJ / Pope John XXIII) to win the final event of the meet clocking in at 3:23.77.
Lacca would add an individual win of his own taking first in the 200 freestyle (1:54.13).
On the women's side, sophomore
GALINA LOUTCHOUK ( Richboro, PA / Council Rock) won a pair of long distance events. Loutchouk took top honors in the 1000 freestyle (11:48.08) and then captured the 400 individual medley (5:09.84).
Senior
RAQUEL ERWIN ( Ridgewood, NJ / Ridgewood) was victorious in the 50 freestyle (25.72) while
KAITLIN MUCHLER ( Vineland, NJ / Vineland) won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:43.57.
The Red Hawks return to action on Thursday, January 22 when they travel to Newark, NJ to face Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology at the Fleisher Center beginning at 6:00 pm.
