Meet Results
Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams dove head first into their 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday evening as the Red Hawks hosted Seton Hall University at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool.
Junior
Katherine LaCava (Milltown, NJ, Mount St. Mary's) and senior
Kathleen French (Cranford, NJ, Cranford) posted individual third-place finishes for Montclair State which fell to the Pirates 183-93. Sophomore
Dan Knepple (Oxford, CT, Oxford) and freshman
Devon D'Agosta (New Preston, CT, Home Schooled) also finished third in their respective events as the men fell 185-95.
LaCava was third in the 1000 freestyle posting a time of 11:29.08 while French swam 1:13.27 to finish third in the 100 breaststroke.
Erin Cannon (Sparta, NJ, Sparta) was third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:19.43 with
Christine Werner (Livingston, NJ, Livingston) placing fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.97). Freshman
Samantha Dowd (Simsbury, CT, Simsbury) was fourth in three events - 200 freestyle (2:07.97), 50 freestyle (26.70) and 100 freestyle (59.05), while
Sydney Stein (Reistertown, MD, Owings Mills) placed fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:33.09).
Cannon was fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:05.17) and the 200 butterfly relay team of Cannon,
Jessica Joseph (Brick, NJ, Brick Township), Stein and French swam 1:59.15 to finish fourth. Diver
Siobhan Ryan (Pitman, NJ, Pitman) recorded a score of 150.82 points in the three meter event.
D'Agosta, swimming in his first collegiate meet, was third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.28 seconds and also finished fourth in the 200 backstroke clocking in at 2:08.09.The freshman then swam the leadoff leg of the 200 butterfly relay that was fourth (1:44.46).
Knepple swam 1:06.84 to finish third in the 100 breaststroke and was also fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.10).
Brendan Turner (New Providence, NJ, New Providence) had a pair of fourth place-finishes in the freestyle events posting time of 23.53 and 52.70 in the 50 and 100 events respectively.
Kevin Kolesa (Edison, NJ, JP Stevens) recorded a time of 1:58.10 to finish fourth in the 200 freestyle and had a time of 5:30.31 in finishing fourth in the 500 freestyle.
Nicandro Donadio (Mountainside, NJ, Governor Livingston), who swam on the 200 butterfly relay team with D'Agosta, Turner and
Michael Pacheco (Passaic, NJ, Paramus Catholic), was fourth in the 1000 freestyle with Pacheco coming in fourth in the 200 butterfly (2:12.30).
Divers
Greg Bauwens (Marlboro, NJ, Marlboro) and
Samuel Mitchell (Medford, NJ, Lenape) had scores of 136.80 and 135.00 respectively in the three-meter diving event.
The Red Hawks return to dual meet action on Friday, October 24 against The College of New Jersey at 5:00 pm in Ewing, NJ. Before that, MSU will host its annual Alumni Homecoming Meet on Saturday, October 18 at 12:30 pm.
