RYAN DAVIES were honored for their play both on and off the field as the duo were selected to the Capital One Division III Academic All-District Football Team.
Conway and Davies are now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America Team which will be announced on Tuesday, December 2.
The two district winners have been instrumental in helping the Red Hawks to a 7-1 start this season. Montclair is currently 5-0 in the NJAC and in first place in addition to being ranked No. 8 in the first NCAA Regional Rankings as well as No. 23 in the latest D3Football.com Top 25.
Conway, a 2013 All-American and Preseason selection by several organizations this season, is enjoying an outstanding campaign recording 41 tackles, including 32 solo stops. He has intercepted six passes on the year which is second in the NJAC and sixth in Division III. Last week, Conway, a First-Team All-NJAC selection a year ago, picked off four passes, the final one returned 23 yards for a score as Montclair State rallied to beat Cortland, 30-20. Conway is tied for the NJAC lead in passes defended with 19.
Away from the field, Conway, an Exercise Science major, is a three-time member of the Dean's List and a two-time NJAC All-Academic Team member in addition to being in addition to being involved in the Red Hawks' charity project with the "Keep Pounding" Foundation in the battle against cancer. The Keep Pounding Foundation is named after Montclair State legend and College Football Hall of Famer Sam Mills, the NFL All-Pro who passed away in 2004 following a lengthy battle against the disease.
Davies has completed 109-of-179 pass attempts this season for 1,112 yards and five touchdowns. He threw for 116 yards and two scored in the Red Hawks' 35-15 win at Southern Virginia on October 11 and last week went 20-of-36 through the air for a season-best 215 yards in the win at Cortland.
Davies currently ranked fifth in the NJAC passing average (158.9 ypg) and is third in pass efficiency (121.2 rating) in addition to ranking sixth in total offense (150.6 ypg).
A Business Administration major, Davies has been on the Dean's List for both semesters since joining the Red Hawks for the 2013 campaign.
