Meet ResultsDallas, PA - Back in action for the first time in over two weeks, the Montclair State women's and men's swimming and diving teams came out with rare tied and a loss as the Red Hawks squared off against Misericordia University on Saturday.
Junior
SYDNEY STEIN and freshman
ERIN CANNON each won two events however 1-2 finish in the final event of the day by Misericorida forced a 131-131 tie between MSU (2-4-1) and the Cougars. Meanwhile,
NICANDRO DONADIO and
MICHAEL PACHECO each won events as the men's team (1-6) fell to Misericordia, 166-94.
Stein swept both long distance freestyle races as she led a 1-2 finish by MSU in the 1000 freestyle. Stein posted a time of 11:38.29 with
ASHLEY SINGEWALD coming in at 11:43.15. Stein added a second victory in the 500 freestyle (5:31.39) and was also second in the 200 freestyle clocking in at 2:04.87.
Cannon took both backstroke events winning the 100 in a time of 1:04.51 before taking the 200 event with a time of 2:18.55.
TORI HOLZBERG placed second in the 200 back posting a time of 2:19.12.
KATHERINE LACAVA and
KARA O'SULLIVAN finished first and second respectively in the 200 butterfly as they posted time of 2:22.44 and 2:26.88.
SAMANTHA DOWD won the 100 freestyle in a time of 57.33 seconds and also took third in the 200 freestyle (2:05.88).
Donadio made it a sweep for MSU in the longest race of the day as he placed first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:31.04. Pacheco earned his top honor in the 200 butterfly recording a winning time of 2:06.99.
MARK DAWES was second in the 100 freestyle (50.40 seconds) and third in the 200 freestyle (1:50.45).
The Montclair State men are in action once more before their Winter Break as the Red Hawks host NJIT at the Panzer Athletic Center Pool on Saturday, December 13 at 1:00 pm. The women are off until Saturday, January 3 when both teams host FDU-Florham.
