ERIN CANNON won two individual events while
STEVEN ROTH set a new pool record in the 100 butterfly as Montclair State swept Misericordia in a dual meet on Saturday.
The Red Hawk men improved to 4-2 on the season with a 146-101 victory over the Cougars while the women's squad also has the same record following a 135-102 triumph.
Cannon took first place in both backstroke events. She captured the 100 event with a time of 1:03.86 before coming back to win the 200 event in a time of 2:15.13.
COURTNEY MUNRO finished in second place just .07 seconds behind (2:15.22).
Earlier in the meet, Cannon swam the lead off leg of the 200 freestyle relay team that finished in the top spot.
CLAIRE LUIGARD,
ALLISON BARTH and
MARGAUX WINCHOCK combined with Cannon for a time of 1:55.84. Munro and
ASHLEY SINGEWALD were 1-2 in the 1000 freestyle with times of 11:43.84 and 11:50.19 respectively with
MADISON FRANKE (2:05.07) and Winchock (2:07.80) doing the same in the 200 freestyle.
Luigard added an individual win in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.08) and Barth took first in the 100 butterfly in a time of 2:22.54. Franke and Cusmano went 1-2 in the 50 freestyle (25.92 seconds and 26.20 seconds). Winchock won the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.56 seconds with Cusmano coming in right behind at 57.28 seconds.
On the men's side, Roth highlighted the victory with the pool record time of 52.41 in the 100 butterfly.
KEVIN HENNINGSEN took second with a time of 55.33. Roth also won the 200 fly in a time of 2:00.84.
HUNTER ROMANOWSKI and
JAMES SINGEWALD each won two individual events. Romanowski was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:47.78) and the 100 free (49.42 seconds) while Singlewald swept the backstroke events winning the 200 in a time of 1:58.67 and the 100 back in 54.76 seconds.
FRANCIS PINO led a 1-2-3 finish in the 1000 freestyle. Pino swam 10:48.57, a half-second ahead of
DAN KNEPPLE (10:48.97).
MITCHELL LAYNE was third at 11:01.14.
Both teams are now off until the 2017 calendar year when it hosts FDU-Florham at the Panzer Pool beginning at 4:00 pm.
