Women's Swimming & Diving Rolls to NJAC Win Over Kean

Brewer, Rothamel Double-Winners for 4-1 Red Hawks

Union, NJ – The Montclair State women's swimming and diving team posted its third straight dual meet victory as the Red Hawks defeated Kean University 102-73 at the D'Angola Pool on Thursday evening.

Freshman Genna Brewer, the NJAC Rookie of the Week, won two events as the Red Hawks upped their record to 4-1 on the season, 2-0 in the NJAC.

Brewer captured the shortest and longest races of the evening as she claimed first in the 50 freestyle leading a 1-2 finish by MSU. Brewer swam 25.64 to win the event with Margaux Winchock coming in second at 26.59 seconds. She added her second victory in the 500 freestyle posting a winning time of 5:27.51. Sophia Ciaravino was second at 5:59.46.

Emily Rothamel was also a double winner taking the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:28.65 and the 100 freestyle (1:01.53). Christina Cusmano (2:05.05) and Claire Luigard (2:05.32) were first and second respectively in the 200 freestyle with Winchock capturing the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:02.67.

Courtney Munro took first in the 100 backstroke (1:04.63) and ERIN CANNON claimed top honors in the 100 breatstroke with a time of 1:16.10.

The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, November 11 with a road dual meet at The College of Staten Island beginning at 1:00 pm.
