Flemington, NJ - Junior righthander AUSTIN MINTON fired seven shutout innings as Montclair State blanked Moravian College 7-0 at Diamond Nation on Thursday evening. 

The Red Hawks snapped a four-game losing streak with the victory, highlighted by a six-run fourth inning that only involved three Red Hawk hits. Right fielder RYAN LONG created chaos on offense with a hit, two walks, a hit-by-pitch, and two steals. 

Minton scattered five hits and a walk over his seven innings while striking out nine. He was aided by catcher SEBASTIAN SEVERIO, who threw out three Greyhound runners. ANTHONY DEBLASIO contributed two scoreless innings of relief to complete the shutout. Minton improved to 1-1 on the season with the victory.

Moravian sent nine pitchers to the mound as part of a piggybacking plan. Due to errors in the field, they combined to allow just two earned runs, but also threw four wild pitches. Nicholas Mazzella, who started the game, took the loss and fell to 1-1 on the season. 

The Red Hawks return to action on Monday with a trip to take on Neumann University, and will have their home opener at Yogi Berra Stadium on Wednesday against DeSales University.
