Auberndale, FL - Montclair State University split a doubleheader with Coe College for the Red Hawks' second and third games of the 2017 Russ Matt Invitional, headlined by a three-hit shutout performance by
CONNOR LINDSAY.
Game One saw the two teams combine for 29 runs and 36 hits in a seven-inning game as the Kohawks outlasted MSU 16-13, winning on an Andrew Brierton walk-off grand slam. Coe struck early with a seven-spot in the first inning, but the Red Hawks clawed their way back into the game, eventually taking the lead in the top of the seventh when
JUSTIN EPIFANIO singled in
DOM LAMPASONA and
JOE NORTON. Lampasona also homered in the game.
The Kohawks also displayed their power. Kevin Delaney and Nolan Arp both went deep in the early innings before Brierton's slam won the game. Michael Golinksi picked up the win in relief, while
SHANE YOUNG took the loss.
Game Two saw MSU fully in command for all seven innings. Lindsay went the distance, giving up only three hits and four walks while striking out 11.
JOE FOOTE lead the offensive attack for Montclair State, tallying two hits and a walk.

JIMMY FASANO and Norton each tallied RBI's.
Starter Jack Greene took the loss for Coe. He pitched 3.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits, four walks, one hit batsman, a balk, and five strikeouts. The Red Hawks are now 2-4, and the Kohawks are now 2-0.
Montclair State returns to action in the RussMatt Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 when they take on the Wolverines of Grove City College.
