GEORGE ALEXANDRIS reset his own school record in in the long jump highlighting Montclair State's appearance at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday afternoon.
Alexandris leaped 7.39 meters to win his second straight long jump event. The 2018 NCAA Outdoor champion in the same event, Alexandris surpassed his own mark of 7.33 meters set last week at the Oceanfirst Bank Classic at Monmouth University.
The Red Hawk men also claimed victory in the 4x800 meters as the group of
BRANDON RIZZO, Patrick Tuohey,
ERIC MARCUS and Vincent Laquidara posting a time of 8:44.75. Rizzo placed fifth in the 500 meters (1:09.50) while
JAMES FOX (51.80) and Tuohey were each ninth in the 400 meters and mile, respectively.
JASON KUNZMAN recorded a height of 4.20 meters for fifth in the pole vault while freshman Jalen Glenn leaped 13.06 meters for sixth in the triple jump.
PATRICK STEWART and Hiroki TsuTsumu threw 13.04 and 12.93 meters in the weight throw for 14
th and 15
th place respectively.
On the women's side, freshman Kelly Weckstein ran 19:26.75 for second place in the 5000 meters. Julia Watts was fifth in the 500 meters (1:22.46) and
BROOKE FILIPPINI was ninth in the mule at 5:52.44. Filippini, Watts, Natasha Senatus and Jade Reynolds combined on a time of 10:16.96 for third place in the 4x800 relay.
Brianne Schwing posted a height of 1.55 meters for sixth in the high jump.
The Red Hawks are now off until Saturday, January 26 when they compete in the Covert Classic at Lehigh University.
