Pitman, NJ —The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Board of Athletic Administrators, in coordination with the administration at each of its 10 full-member and three affiliate track & field member institutions, made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships which were scheduled to take place at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex in Staten Island, NY, on February 22.

In a related development, the NJAC Board of Athletic Administrators voted to conduct a spring 2021 Cross Country Championship – if conditions allow - with the meet tentatively scheduled to take place at Stockton University on March 20.

The NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championship is the only league championship event that does not take place on a member campus. In addition, it is the only league championship which is conducted outside of the State of New Jersey.

"While we are disappointed that our track & field student-athletes will not have the opportunity to compete in a conference indoor championship meet this year, we look forward to many of those same student-athletes having the opportunity to compete in our NJAC outdoor championship meet in May," said NJAC Commissioner Terry Small. "We also are excited for the opportunity to potentially provide our cross country student-athletes with a unique conference championship experience during this upcoming spring semester."

Despite the cancelling of the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championship meet, each league institution will have the opportunity to make its own determination as to whether or not it will participate in the sport of indoor track & field during the spring 2021 semester. The 2021 NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships are scheduled to take place at Ramapo College on May 8-9.           

Announcements about other NJAC league sport competitions and championships are expected to be made at a later date.
