Staten Island, NY – The Montclair State men's and women's indoor track and field teams put forth several top performances as the Red Hawks returned to the track for the first time in over a year at the Seahawk Shootout on Friday.

The meet was the first indoor competition for the Red Hawks since it took part in the AARTFC Regional Championships on March 6-7, 2020. Montclair's 2020-21 campaign was wiped out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

JOHN GRIFFITH, the 2021 NJAC Outdoor Rookie of the Year, had two Top 5 finishes in his first career indoor meet. Griffith finished third in the shot put with a throw of 14.62 meters and later finished fourth in the weight throw at 14.78 meters. NA'IM KINSEY was eighth in the shot put (13.96 meters) with JOSHUA ALVAREZ placing 10^th in the weight throw (11.47 meters). Freshman OWEN FOGARTY went 4.25 meters in the pole vault to place seventh with classmate BECK DEENY coming in 10^th in the triple jump (12.42 meters). ANTHONY DIMAULO leaped 6.67 meters for ninth in the long jump.

On the track, SAMAEL MILEVOIX ran the fastest time in school history for the 300 meters as he went 36.22 seconds which was 18^th overall against the field of Division I competitors. PATRICK TUOHEY ran 4:36.43 for ninth in the mile with NANA ANTI finishing 13^th in the 60 meters at 7.17 seconds. VANCE THELEMAQUE was 11^th in the 60-meter hurdles (8.95 seconds).

The sprint medley relay teams both finished in the Top 10. The group of NANA ANTI, MARCUS LENNON, ROSHAUN WILSON and JABARI MOORE came in eighth with a time of 3:49.68. PAYTON STILLS, DEREK PEZO, SEBASTIAN RUIZ and PATRICK TUOHEY were right behind in ninth posting a time of 3:50.86. In the 4x400 relay, Montclair's squad of Milevoix, JORDAN DICKERSON, Thelemaque and KIMANI CARRINGTON ran 3:30.18 for eighth place.

For the women, CHRISTIANA CAPRIO registered a time of 11:56.53 to finish 15^th in the 3000 meters. KAYLA MCADAMS was 19^th in the 1000 meters (3:35.48) with JEALYNE RAMOS (1:48.56) and NATASHA SENATUS (1:49.10) both placing in the Top 25 of the 600 meters. The Red Hawks' sprint medley relay team of EMILY ALBRIGHT, KAYLA TARANGELO, Ramos and Senatus finished ninth clocking in at 4:39.58.

Aurelia Shanaga leaped 9.77 meters for 10^th in the triple jump with MIA PEGUERO going 9.37 meters for 13^th place. Peguero also finished 19^th in the long jump with a leap of 4.30 meters. EVE ROSADO (9.23 meters) and TARA MASTROIANNI (9.17 meters) were 22^nd and 23^rd, respectively in the shot put with Mastroianni finishing 23^rd in the weight throw (9.69 meters).

Montclair State is now off until mid-January. The Red Hawks will be at the Moravian Indoor Meet at Lehigh University on Saturday, January 22.
