Montclair, NJ – Senior
IAN JOHNSON broke his own one-meter diving record and the Montclair State men set three new pool records to highlight the first session of an NJAC dual meet with The College of New Jersey on Friday evening.
Senior
TAYLOR WADDLETON won the 500 freestyle for the women, who hosted Kean University while competing against TCNJ virtually. The teams will finish off their tri-meet on Saturday with two sessions taking place at 10:00 am and 5:00 pm respectively.
Johnson reset his own standard in the six-dive portion of the one-meter event, recording a score of 252.97 points while finishing second overall. He had previously set the mark last January against William Paterson with a score of 227.55 in his first collegiate meet.
Golovin got the men off to a fast start, literally as he set the Panzer Athletic Center Pool record in the 50 freestyle posting a time of 21.29 on the leadoff leg of the 200 freestyle relay.
GREG KARBACK,
TYLER DORSETT and
SPENSER DUBOIS would finish off what turned out to be a new pool record for the event – 1:26.08.
RYAN KAPPES finished third in the 500 freestyle (4:53.01) and Dorsett was fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:01.41). Golovin swam 21.44 in the 50 freestyle, taking third place.
The men's team would finish the day the same way they started – with a pool record.
CHRYSTIAN MUHLEISEN, Dubois, Dorsett and Golovin combined on a time of 3:33.74, breaking the previous mark by almost four seconds.
Waddleton swam 5:23.32 to capture the 500 freestyle with freshman
LIDIA BOGUSLAWSKA (24.71) and
MOLLY MOORE (25.90) placing second and fourth, respectively in the 50 freestyle. Boguslawska,
SKYE SENER,
JULIET DI PASQUALE and Moore combined on a time of 1:42.24 for second in the 200 freestyle relay.
