The Red Hawks notched a 4-0 victory over Keystone College in a non-conference match Wednesday evening. JANBI KAGHADO, AMER LUKOVIC, REED KARSEN, and BRENT LLEWELLYN netted goals, while rookie IAN CHESNEY posted two assists in the victory. After missing six games, SHANE KEENAN earned the shutout without having to record a save.
 
AWARD SEASON
After earning an assist on the game-winning goal, freshman defender IAN CHESNEY was named the NJAC Rookie of the Week. Chesney was also part of the backline that allowed just one goal over two matches last week.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
In the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, the Red Hawks are just outside of the top-25 and are receiving the second most votes among teams not in the top-25. The Red Hawks are fourth behind St. Mary's (Md.), NYU, and Rowan in the Region IV Regional Poll.

The Gothic Knights, coached by Montclair State Athletics Hall of Fame member Joe Cullen, are 6-0-1 this season are ranked 10th in the Region IV Regional Poll. NJCU is coming off an 8-0 blanking of CCNY on Wednesday afternoon.

Montclair shutout NJCU 5-0 in their meeting on March 13, 2021, with Keenan and ANDRES LEZME combining for the shutout win. RYAN CATALANO, MICHAEL CASPER, MARVIN CADENA, JAKE STUMP, and JABEZ THOMAS tallied goals in the victory.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair holds an impressive 54-10-3 record over the Gothic Knights dating back to the first meeting in 1959. The Gothic Knights' best stretch against Montclair came between 1964-1968 when they picked up wins in four of five matches. Montclair has won 11 consecutive matches in the series, their second-longest string of victories in matchup history. The Red Hawks have surrendered just four goals during the 11-game streak.
