Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State indoor track and field teams return to action to compete in the NYC Gotham Cup Friday afternoon.
MEET INFO
The Gotham Cup, which will be held at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Center in Staten Island, NY, will begin at 2 pm. The field includes Division I, II, and III programs.
LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks opened their campaign at the Seahawk Shootout on December 10.
JOHN GRIFFITH notched a pair of top-five finishes in his first career indoor, while
SAMAEL MILEVOIX set the school record in the 300-meter (36.22). On the women's side,
CHRISTIANA CAPRIO finished 15th in the 3,000-meter while the sprint medley relay squad took ninth.
LAST GOTHAM CUP
In the 2019-20 Gotham Cup, then-rookie
CAMERYN MARTIN qualified for the finals in the 60-hurdles, while the distance medley relay quartet placed third in 10:55.67.
NANA ANTI won the high jump with a leap of 1.94, while
KELLY WECKSTEIN placed eighth in the 5,000-meter (19:44.87).
AWARD SEASON
After the Seahawk Shootout,
KIMANI CARRINGTON of the men's team was tabbed as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. Carrington took fifth in his first collegiate event, 60-meter hurdles. He finished in 8.65, which qualified him for the AARTFC Championships at the beginning of March. The rookie finished first in his heat, edging his closest competitor by .18 seconds. He also ran in the 4x400 relay, as the foursome of Carrington,
SAMAEL MILEVOIX,
JORDAN DICKERSON, and
VANCE THELEMAQUE took eighth in 3:30.18.
UP NEXT
The Red Hawks return to action on February 4, competing in the NYC Division III Invite, which will be held at New Balance Track & Field Center in Manhattan.
