Field Hockey: Gameday Preview vs. Kean

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State field hockey team hosts nationally-ranked Kean University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action Tuesday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (6-4) recorded their sixth straight victory with a 2-1 triumph over Ramapo in their NJAC opener Saturday. CARLIE VAN TASSEL opened the scoring in the 10th minute before KYLIE COMPTON added her first goal of the year on a stroke in the 12th. LAUREN PICKUL made seven saves, including the 200th of her career, to earn the win.

SCOUTING KEAN
The Cougars enter the game with a 9-1 record, having earned nine consecutive wins since falling 1-0 to then-No. 7 Babson in their season-opener. Kean is coming off an 8-0 triumph over Marywood on Saturday, where Peyton Mann scored three times and added an assist.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 49-21-6 all-time against Kean but has dropped the last four games. Their last win came at Sprague Field on October 2, 2018, when they earned a 3-1 victory. Montclair State notched 14 consecutive wins from September 3, 1997 – September 18, 2007.

LAST MEETING
Last season, the Cougars tallied a 2-0 win on October 19, 2021. Jordan Thompson scored twice for Kean as LAUREN PICKUL made 10 saves in the cage for Montclair. In the setback, the Red Hawks also received three defensive saves from MADDIE SPOLARICH.
